The Importance of Spaying & Neutering
Many people are surprised to learn that, across the nation, countless cats and dogs are killed in shelters each year. You might think that these are animals born in the streets or that there is something “wrong” with them. But often, they are offspring of cherished family pets, even purebreds. Maybe someone’s dog or cat got out just that one time or maybe the litter was intentional, but efforts to find enough good homes failed.
The result is homeless animals that have to be euthanized because there are more dogs & cats entering shelters than there are people willing to provide them with loving care. Spay/neuter is the only permanent, 100-percent effective method of birth control for dogs & cats. It saves countless animals from suffering.
Spaying or neutering your pet is recommended for your animal’s long term health and prevents many nuisance behaviors associated with mating.
Juvenile Spaying
Juvenile spaying at 4 months of age is recommended. This decreases your pet’s chance of getting mammary cancer by 90%. It decreases your pet’s chance of getting pregnant by 100%. It eliminates life threatening uterine infections (Pyometria), eliminates testicular cancer. Spaying protects against rabies and distemper. Vaccines included in the price.
